Samuel Arsarnow (retired shoe retailer) buys property in Warren as a summer place for friends and family. Word got out and the property quickly became the go to hang out spot. Samuel started charging 25 cents a person for food, drinks, and new yearly additions to the facility. Samuel renovates the property and adds a few games, a public pool, pavilions, and more! Eventually, he decides to call this new public attraction “Forest Lodge”.
The Asarnow family sells Forest Lodge to a man name Evans. He took over the picnic operation and opened a popular country rock bar on the grounds that featured live bands.
Chalrie Alberto JR buys Forest Lodge and does extensive renovation and landscaping work - trying to keep the old-world flavor of the original owners but with modern standards. By this time, the company events had become so big, there were only so many weekends available, so the Lodge closes for public use.
Charles Alberto III takes over and oversees Forest Lodge day to day operations. With a new focus on private events, Forest Lodge turns the country rock bar/jazz club into the now Sherwood Chalet for meetings, indoor events, and weddings.
Charles Alberto IV takes over as Vice President/General Manager. The property is renovated with updates to the existing venues and additional venues like the Maple Grove for outdoor weddings/events.
Forest lodge isn’t just an event venue, it’s a legacy built on love, hard work, and family values, passed down through generations.
or decades, Forest Lodge has given back to local organizations like warren/watchung little league, Pop Warner, Elks American Legion, first responders, and more. As members of HPBA, Lions Club, and Sommerset County Business Partners Association we are proud to support our local community anyway we can.
